This weekend I went to the Cooyar hotel in Cooyar Queensland. I arranged with the owners Karyn and Shirley to stop by with a few mates for lunch before heading over the Bunya Mountains.
They put on a sausage sizzle at $2.00 a sausage and because I called them up from Kilcoy (exactly 1 hour away) they had it ready when we arrived.
The pub is bright and has the coldest beer in town. Not that I drank any, I stuck to soft drink due to being on a restricted license.
The Cooyar Hotel is also able to cater to large groups for lunch or tea (we had 14 adults and one child) and also have accommodation as well. There is camping available as well as events throughout the year for motorcycle enthusiasts. See the link below for their Facebook page.
Hotel Cecil, Wondai
Located 25 minutes north of Kingaroy, the Hotel Cecil is a great destination for a ride. Accommodation is pretty good for the money charged and the food was even better. With lock up parking at the back and heaps of beds and rooms you can be sure everyone is going to enjoy themselves.
Paul can be contacted to arrange your ride to the Hotel Cecil and offers pretty good deals. We had around 16 people and had a roast tea and cooked breakfast included with the room rates.
The Bunyas General Store, Bistro and Restaurant, Bunya Mountains
We stopped at the Bunyas Bistro for a quick coffee stop and the atmosphere was great. Coffee was great and Eleanor went out of her way to ensure we all enjoyed our break. The General store is stocked with all the usual stuff as well as a small lolly shop for the kids. The bistro (Elz Bistro) has a good range of food and drinks and is licenced for the sale and consumption of alcohol on premises. The Restaurant (Lyrics Restaurant) is open Friday and Saturday nights from 6:00pm. There is also accommodation available from $105 per night.
